I know, I know, it's after Christmas... why am I sharing a sugar cookie recipe now? Answer: because I wanted pictures to go with it & I never make cookies until Christmas eve. But, you don't have to limit sugar cookies to Christmas! They're fantastic all year :) Although after the last two weeks of eating and drinking {and eating and drinking some more} I'm staying far away from the sugar cookies.
Anyway.
Best Sugar Cookies Ever
+ a ton of pictures {photo credits to my mom}
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup Crisco
1 cup sugar
1 slightly beaten egg
1 tablespoon vinegar
2 1/2 cup flour
1 scan teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
1/2 teaspoon baking soda*
*I accidentally put in a whole teaspoon of baking soda. It came out just fine.
Directions
Cream butter, Crisco, and sugar. Add egg, vinegar, flour, salt, baking soda, and vanilla. Mix well. Roll into small balls and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Dip bottom of a small glass in sugar and press down on cookie dough balls. Bake at 350 for 6-8 minutes or until light brown on edges*
*We ended up cooking ours almost 12 minutes.
This recipe comes from an old school PLC cookbook
How old is the cookbook? At least 20 years old... back to when I didn't know how to properly spell "flour" or how to look on the page to find the correct spelling...
& enjoy my mom playing photographer!
{Yes, that is a Griswold Family Christmas shirt. I mean when else are you supposed to wear it, if not on Christmas Eve?}
There's never a wrong time to share a cookie recipe! These would be perfect all year around! I love how y'all used the bottom of the glass to make that pretty design. So clever :)
