What got me into running 5Ks in the first place was a work sponsored 5K. If you signed up & completed the race, the registration fees were paid for by my company. C'mon. How do you not sign up for the 5K when...
a) you're in town that weekend
b) you've always wanted to do a 5K
c) it's FREE
d) you know a lot of people running it {peer pressure, y'all}
We all really enjoyed the race & so I kept my eyes open for another race that would be a good company run. Enter the BB&T Corporate Cup.
I haven't run a 5K since the ACC 5K back in early December. Between long hours at work, getting sick multiple times, and the snow... I haven't been able to run as much as I would have liked to over the last three months. I'm sure that's going to come back to bite me on Saturday.
But at least I've come up with a completely new playlist that will hopefully keep me entertained while running!
And I have a new GPS watch from Christmas that I can finally put to use during an actual timed 5K.
I'm not going for any PRs during this race {thank you, sinus infection} but I am hoping to finish another 5K without stopping. The course is a familiar one... it'll be the 3rd time I've run this course {or something very similar to it}... so I know not to waste all of my energy in the beginning because the last half of the race is almost all uphill and potentially uphill into the wind.
I'm just excited to get back out running again!
{add that to the list of things I never thought I'd say}
This race also kicks off the 2014 races for me. My next race is a trail run at the White Water Center and then a 10K {!!!} down at Kiawah. Here we go!

When's the 10K in Kiawah? :D
ReplyDeleteAlso Timber is SUCH an excellent workout song. And I have yet to get tired of blasting "Demons" when in cars.
That is all. <3
Oh I loved the White Water Center. It would be so neat to do a trail run there! Good luck on your race. Great playlist!
