Oh boy, confession time again.
Never, ever, ever in my entire life have I ever run more than 4 miles. That is the furthest distance I have ever run without stopping and it was on a treadmill and I think I slept for 12 hours after finishing the run. The closest I have come to 4 miles since then? The two 5Ks that I ran in late November/early December where I managed to run without stopping.
So... naturally, it's a wonderful idea to sign up for a 10K right? Right.
Here's my logic: if I don't do it now, I'm not going to do it any time soon and I need to get a move on with this if I think I'm going to run a half marathon in December. This race is on Seabrook Island, which should be a nice flat course and the temperatures look just about perfect for running. Plus, my Kiawah running buddy Dottie was like nope, you're going to do the 10K instead of the 5K.
Sold.
Crap.
That's at least an hour of running.
Ok, I've got this. The course has got to be flat because it's at the beach. The weather should be awesome. I ran 2.5 miles on Monday and Wednesday this week. I mean... a 10K isn't too much further than that...
Uh oh.
Hopefully my super long playlist will keep me going throughout the race and then laying on the beach for several hours afterwards with a good book will be a good reward to look forward to.
You will be great! A 10K is my favorite distance for races - and with a good playlist and pretty scenery it will fly by :)
