Reality is starting to creep back in... it's Thursday which is pretty much the weekend which is pretty much Monday when I have to head back to Charlotte. But Thursday also means that my brother comes to Kiawah in a few hours! Y'all know the drill now - another guest post, this time from Hope. She's headed back to Charlotte soon but is blogging about summer in NYC today.
Hi dolls! I'm Hope from Hope in a Blog. Although my husband and I are leaving New York City to head back down south to Charlotte, NC there are a lot of NYC activities we are going to miss! If you're planning a visit to this exciting place you have got to be sure to check out a few things:
Hi dolls! I'm Hope from Hope in a Blog. Although my husband and I are leaving New York City to head back down south to Charlotte, NC there are a lot of NYC activities we are going to miss! If you're planning a visit to this exciting place you have got to be sure to check out a few things:
- Museums Galore: You seriously can't go wrong with any NYC museum. There are endless options from the MoMa to the Museum of Natural History.
- Walk or bike around Central Park.
- Central Park Zoo - although small it's still pretty awesome to walk around Central Park and then hop on over to a ZOO!
- Shop....need I say more? Walk around 5th avenue, go to Soho...shop until you drop!
- Statue of Liberty - I can't say I have done this, but I would hop on a ferry to go see Lady Liberty!
- Restaurants with a rooftop bar or garden patio. I mean...it's summer in the city. I would suggest going to 230 Fifth in the Flatiron district for a groovy view of the Empire State Building. The Boat Basin Cafe is also a very fun outdoor place!
- Visit the World Trade Center Museum and Ground Zero. Definitely heavy but so important and patriotic.
- Walk or bike the High Line.
- Visit Magnolia Bakery. Best cupcakes ever.
- Go to a Broadway Show in the evening,
As a self proclaimed southerner living the NYC life for a little over a year, I am sure I missed some of the tried and true places + tips a true New Yorker would suggest...I am still learning them all myself. But, one thing I do know is that on my future visits I plan to do as many of these activities as I can cram into one trip!
HAPPY SUMMER!

I visited NYC a few summers ago and it was the perfect time to go! I loved the cool mornings and being able to enjoy delicious bagels. A roof top bar sounds so much fun as well!
