Have I mentioned that we have some pretty fantastic friends down on Kiawah?
Not only did some friends of ours throw us an engagement toast earlier this year, just after Patrick popped the question, but this weekend we had an engagement party thrown in our honor.
& if there's one thing I learned from this party, it's that the two of us do not do this whole "center of attention" thing very well. Things get awkward. Typically, I would say that it was my fault {because normally Patrick does the center of attention thing much better than I do} but I think we can equally take the blame this weekend.
Yes, that's my fiancé tying a ribbon around my neck while I try to open a present in front of a room full of people. I can't wait to see what happens when we take our engagement pictures next week. I hope that our photographer knows what she's getting into with us!
The good news is that our families still love us anyway.
When it comes to in-laws, I think I've lucked out. Patrick's parents are the best & I am so glad that they were able to make it down to Kiawah for the weekend! They got to see a little bit of why we love it down there so much.
& yes, that is my brother is sitting on Patrick's lap.
Our hosts extended the invitation to some of our friends who live out in Charleston to come celebrate with us as well.
We had an awesome cake because
1. it was orange & white {Go Clemson!}
and
2. it was from Publix.
This is cake cutting experience #2 for us since we've been engaged and we either need a whole lot more practice cutting cakes or we need to just not have one at our reception. Mainly because nobody should trust me with a knife but also because once again, awkward pictures galore.
There's a good chance that all of these awkward pictures will never see the light of day... or there could be an entire post dedicated to them in the near future. We'll see!
But at the end of the day, we had an great party hosted by fantastic friends on Kiawah!
& we can't wait to celebrate even more next July!

ReplyDeletehaha this is hilarious. KC is good at being the center of attention and I am normally okay.. but together, and during wedding festivities, it got awkward fast. plus opening presents in front of people is always awkward. we did cupcakes so we could avoid the cake cutting awkwardness haha.
ReplyDeleteLooks so lovely. What sweet friends and family you both have xx And don't fret about the pictures, it adds character after all! haha x
