Last night, I walked in the door and the first thing that my mom says to me is "you're late!"
Um, what? It's 7:15. Sure, I usually get home from the gym after work around 7 but c'mon, late? I don't think so. But it quickly became apparent that I wasn't "late" so much as my mom was really excited for me to get home and wasn't being super patient about it. She ushered me into the dining room and there it was, the reason for her impatience.
There was a box waiting for me on the dining room floor.
Not just any box, but a rather sizable box from Bed Bath & Beyond.
You know... one of the stores where we've registered for our wedding.
Y'all, we are officially less than six months out from our wedding and holy cow how did time go by so fast? Didn't Patrick just propose? Wasn't I just living in Charlotte with no plans to ever move to Columbia? Didn't I just meet this boy at a wedding reception my senior year of college?!?!
Our Save the Dates {well, most of them} are in the mail.
We were stopped by our pastor the other day at church to talk setting up our marriage counseling sessions.
The girl at the bridesmaid's dress shop is sending me emails to remind me that I should probably pick a dress color so that she can get the bridesmaid dresses ordered.
Wedding presents are showing up at the house!
We are getting married in 176 days.
Holy cow.
Things are getting real around here.
I want time to slow down and for it to speed up. I want it to slow down so I can enjoy this being engaged thing a little while longer because it's a lot more fun than I ever thought it could be. I want it to hurry up though because I'm ready to marry Patrick & start our lives together as a family. We've been together six & a half years and most of y'all know that I'm not exactly the most patient person ever. I'm so ready.
& I think that my dad is super ready, too. Mainly because this is the current state of our room over the garage thanks to me... & I can only imagine how it's going to look once more presents begin arriving.
I think they'll miss me when I move back out. Maybe.

ReplyDeleteIt is such an exciting time!! Just think when you are about a month away from your wedding you will start getting presents every day! You won't know what to do with all the boxes!! My husband loved them because it meant stuff to burn but I was just annoyed as they sat next to our back door for a long time!

Just wait until that room is filled to the brim with presents, then your parents will REALLY be ready for you to move out ;) My grandparents had to store all of ours for the summer and they couldn't wait for moving day lol
