Have I mentioned lately how much I love Main Street?
Because I do. I really, really, really love Main Street in downtown Columbia. It is really starting to come into its own now with all of the new shops, bakeries, restaurants, and bars that are opening up.
The newest addition to Main Street?
Lula Drake Wine Parlour.
It's located in an old, renovated building on Main Street {right near The Nick} and was named after a woman who used to run her hat shop out of the location in the early 1900s.
Patrick and I ventured over to Lula Drake last week during the First Thursday festivities. I had been reading about this place for months online and had been waiting oh so patiently for it to open.
We snagged two seats at the bar and proceeded to check out the wine & beer menu.
Y'all, that menu is extensive. There were so many wine options and I didn't recognize a single one of them. Lula Drake prides themselves on having hard-to-find and limited edition wine at their bar so it wasn't too surprising that I didn't see anything that I knew. The craft beers? Yup. I had heard of all of those.
The wine was a different story though so I asked the bartender what she recommended. After a quick run down of the types of wines that I like the best {pinot grigio, sauvignon blanc, pinot gris, etc} she suggested the a White Bordeaux for me.
Yeah. I didn't know there was such thing as a White Bordeaux either. It was so good though! I'd go back just to have this glass of wine again.
Everyone who worked here was incredibly nice and extremely knowledgeable about the different items on their menu. The bartender who suggested my wine knocked it out of the park - delicious and not the most expensive one on the menu, either.
This place is a great spot for a glass of wine after work with your girlfriends or a perfect starting place for a date night. I can't wait to go back!
