Hey, Monday!
The first weekend of June has come and gone, and it's back to work. It's another four day week for me this week since we're ending the week with a mini vacation with a few of our friends. But... back to this past weekend. It was a weekend filled with good friends and even better causes.
Saturday morning, we packed up the car and drove up to just north of the Queen City to Cornelius, NC. First thing we did? Grabbed some lunch at Mac's Speed Shop.
This is one of like four restaurants that I really, really miss from my Charlotte days. That pulled pork plate is legit.
I also don't care that Wicked Weed sold out and is no longer an independent, locally owned craft brewery. It just means that I now have more opportunities to come cross Lunatic Blonde outside of Asheville.
From lunch, we went to a new brewery in Cornelius called Eleven Lakes Brewing. They are BIG supporters of the Pounding for Parker Foundation so naturally, we were big supporters of their brewery opening.
More on it later this week... but if you live up that way, y'all need to stop by Eleven Lakes.
Some awesome friends of ours let us come and crash with their family Saturday night. There was a delicious dinner {ribs, homemade mac & cheese, and green beans}, backyard fun, trampoline time, and a bonfire. It was exactly the way that I like to spend my summer evenings!
Sunday, we ran a few errands around Charlotte, including a stop by one of my other favorite Charlotte restaurants: Hawthornes.
Their Penne Alla Vodka with Blackened Chicken is SO good and is reason enough to visit Charlotte.
The main event of the weekend, the Pound Out Pediatric Cancer Street Festival & Silent Auction, kicked off early Sunday afternoon. The Pounding for Parker Foundation team did such an AMAZING job putting this event together! I can't wait to watch this foundation grow and evolve over the years because if the first event is any indication, this is going to be a "can't miss" type of event.
They're continuing on the weekend today with a golf tournament. Unfortunately, work calls and we didn't feel like we could take the day off today {especially with this only being my 4th week at my new job!} My dad is representin' for the family though and participating in the tournament today.
Whew. #summeroffun is continuing to roll along and we added another fantastic weekend to the books. I'm ready for our next North Carolina adventure!
As per usual the food in your post is making me drool! Enjoy your short work week girl! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
