Surprise! Baby Merritt #2 is On the Way!

We are over the moon excited to share that Riley is going to become a big sister in January 2021. 

Oh, and we bought a new house! And put our current house on the market… and under contract 24 hours later. All in the middle of a pandemic and during the longest tax season in history.

 

I mean, go big or go home, right?

 

Baby Merritt #2 and I are in our second trimester together and we are doing great now that we have moved on from the sleepiness of the first trimester. With Riley, I slept through the entire first trimester and y’all, I didn’t realize what a luxury that was. Try doing that with an 18 month old running around the house as you’re trying to work from home during quarantine, trying to get your house ready to go on the market, and trying to navigate the real estate waters of buying and selling a home.

 

Riley hasn’t quite put the concept of a baby together yet. She’ll point to my belly and say “baby” and she’ll fake cry when we ask her what a baby says, but other than that, who knows if she completely gets it. We’ll work on that with her a lot more between now and January!

 

As for Patrick, once the realization of what was going on sank in (I did wake him up at 4:15 in the morning to tell him we were pregnant…), he jumped on all kinds of planning for Baby #2. That’s how we ended up putting our house on the market and purchasing a new one! Our old house, as much as we adored it, was not an ideal home to raise two children in. 

 

And the grandparents? Couldn’t be more excited! We bought a Big Sister shirt for Riley and we let her be the one to share the news with our parents.

 

We will definitely be finding out the gender again this time around and we’ll know in early September after our anatomy scan.
